I am a manager at Pier 1 Imports and many customers come in asking "how should I decorate my home?" the answer to that question is simple. You can decorate however you want. Where you live should describe you and your perosnality. Everyone is different, so there is no right or wrong way. Pier 1 is a great strore to find unique pieces that can be used in many ways. The most important place to start is color. Don't be afraid to use color, it can make a simple room into spectacular.
Another rule that is helpful is to always remeber old numbers. For example if you are planning on hanging pictures on the wall, it will look more visually pleasing if you have 1 or 3. If you only have 2 pictures they should be contrasting colors or sizes.
Candles are a great way to accessorize the room. You can pull in colors that are not so dominate in your room and make them stand out. Different sizes of candles will look best but in the end its up to you. Placement of candles is a way for you to be creative.
Always remember to trust yourself and you can't go wrong!
this is very helpful! i'm currently looking to re-design my room and was gonna go to a store like pier 1 to get some chic stuff like pictures and possibly some candles! i like your rule on color, i feel that everyone's rule should have color instead of boring, dull colors.
